Network Monitoring Specialist

We are seeking a Network Monitoring Specialist to join the Networks team at the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst) in Apeldoorn. In this role, you will be responsible for gathering and linking technical and administrative data sources to provide clients with insights into the availability and performance of their services. You will set up end-to-end network monitoring by unlocking NetFlow streams and streaming telemetry, relating this data to customer services, and visualizing performance information on dashboards. Your expertise in tools such as Telegraf, Prometheus, Elasticsearch, and Grafana will be crucial in building effective monitoring solutions that connect business administration with network hardware, ultimately impacting a network that handles over five thousand terabytes of data daily. As part of a team of approximately 50 colleagues, you will contribute to the design, construction, and operation of all network and network security solutions for the Belastingdienst. This includes managing a vast infrastructure comprising around 2000 LAN switches across more than 80 locations. Your work will play a critical role in revising the monitoring of network connections that support the daily operations of thousands of employees. The Belastingdienst is committed to ensuring a financially healthy Netherlands by collecting taxes fairly and carefully, which in turn funds essential services such as healthcare, education, and public transport. The IT department is responsible for providing ICT facilities, leveraging both internal expertise and external solutions.
