Description

We are seeking a highly experienced IT Department Manager to lead and oversee the performance of IT sub-teams within the Customer Specific Services (KSD) department at the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst). The successful candidate will be responsible for setting clear expectations, driving results, and translating strategic objectives into operational actions. This role emphasizes coaching and guiding IT professionals to achieve optimal performance while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, openness, and trust within the team. The manager will apply situational leadership effectively, adjusting their approach as needed, and will play a key role in the professional development of team members. Collaboration with fellow managers is essential to ensure alignment and cooperation across the department, contributing to the realization of the annual plan. This is a temporary assignment expected to last for six months, with the possibility of extension. The KSD department consists of four teams, totaling over 100 IT professionals, and is responsible for developing and managing tailored services for various components within the Tax and Customs Administration. The teams include the Forensic Domain (FD), Hosting Platform Allowances (HPT), Customer and Service Level Management (KSL), and Performance Competence Center (PCC). The department aims for service standardization while providing customized services and specific support as required. The Dutch Tax and Customs Administration plays a vital role in maintaining a financially healthy Netherlands by ensuring fair and careful tax collection. The Information Provisioning (IV) organization is responsible for the ICT facilities, leveraging both internal expertise and external solutions to meet evolving societal needs.

Requirements

  • Master's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field such as ICT or Business Informatics (5 years)
  • Experience in a medium to large political/administrative environment as a senior manager (5 years)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an IT service organization
  • Proven experience applying situational leadership
  • Proactive in leading and coaching teams
  • Broad knowledge of ICT infrastructure and/or application development
  • Strong understanding of government organizations
