Senior SQL Server DBA

We are seeking a Senior Microsoft SQL Server Specialist / Database Administrator (DBA) to join the IBS Toeslagen team at the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (Belastingdienst). This role involves designing, implementing, and managing a high-availability, secure, and performant Microsoft SQL Server capability on the new Aurora hosting platform, replacing the current hosting platform (HPT) which will be phased out by January 1, 2027. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a robust SQL Server environment for a critical application landscape, ensuring high standards of availability, performance, recoverability, security, and manageability. Key responsibilities include designing and implementing high-availability SQL Server configurations, establishing monitoring and management procedures, developing automation pipelines, and migrating existing PowerShell scripts to the new platform. The DBA will also perform daily technical and functional DBA tasks, serve as the first point of contact for complex SQL Server incidents, and advise development teams on performance optimization and best practices. This position is critical as it supports one of the most vital government processes in the Netherlands, facilitating the monthly disbursement of benefits to millions of citizens. The role will be performed in an Agile environment, collaborating closely with various teams within IBS Toeslagen and other IT departments, following Agile and SAFe methodologies.
